April Gough 🦄, there is something meaningful about letting a poem from tenth grade remain in its original emotional register. The repetition, urgency, and directness feel true to that age, when heartbreak can become a whole weather system and other people’s laughter or rumors can feel impossible to escape. What I appreciate most is the preservation of the younger voice without trying to over-edit her into adulthood. Grateful for the vulnerability in sharing the archive of who you were and letting readers see how early the work of naming hurt began.
