If You Could Choose
What will happen in your next life
There is something I have been thinking about lately. Hopefully itās not some kind of weird premonition that Iāll be moving on sooner rather than later. If I could choose my next life what would I choose for myself. This by no means demeans the life that I am currently living, just because I want something completely different than what I have now. I already know that when I die my current life will become null to me. Itās like it never happened (in my mind). Which is why itās extremely important to enjoy every single moment of the life you are currently in. My current self will live on with my descendants.
This is just me thinking what else is out there.
So, where to start?
First I would start with my family situation. I was born in a marriage that had fallen apart before I was even conceived. I do believe I was the last ditch effort to save a failing marriage. Obviously, it didnāt work.
If I could choose my own family I would choose a very large family. Grandparents, lots of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins, of course there has to be dogs and cats too. I want family that LOVES each other through all the ups and downs. A family that is always there when someone is in need. A family that does so much together because they truly enjoy being around each other. Vacations together, family meals on a regular basis, celebrating each otherās successes and being there when things arenāt so great.
I donāt have that with my current family. I am trying to make sure that my children feel that way though. Even if our extended family is not close with us, I hope my children know that I am always there for them no matter what the situation, and I hope I instill that into them for the future. Because itās something I have always longed for and never had.
I hope that I have an extroverted personality that draws people in. I hope that I get energy from being around people instead of losing it.
Bear with me in this fantasy story I am creating. Some of it may seem a bit trivial or selfish or what have you. But I canāt help that I want what I want. Besides itās my fantasy anyway. I can make it any way I want.
I do hope that whatever family I am born into is from a mountainous and beautiful place in Europe. A place that is not war ridden. I hope that I am born into a noble and well to do family. Grow up in a large estate on a mountain with woods and a beautiful lake. One with stables, a pool, a play area for me to play on as I grow up. And wonderful adventures throughout the entire property.
I hope that my parents bless me with a bunch of siblings, but I definitely donāt want to be the oldest. I am in this life, and Iād like to be towards the middle in my next. Iāve thought about whether I would want to be born a guy or a girl. Honestly, it doesnāt really matter either way to me. The feelings will all be the same. If I had a choice, I do like being a girl. Even if we have lots of female only issues. But Iām not going to lie, Iāve always wondered what it was like to have a penis. But I also know what itās like to carry a baby, and thatās something a man could never understand. But honestly, either would be fine.
I want a family that is very loving and kind towards each other. No yelling, not hateful words, no physical punishments. Just love and positive direction.
Now here is where you might scoff at me, but thatās ok, itās still my fantasy.
I hope Iām also born into a beautiful family, with great genes. One that has beautiful skin, no excess hair all over, and the hair I do have is lighter in color and I donāt have a family history of cancer, heart disease or diabetes. A family that takes care of themselves and eats super healthy so that we can have healthy bodies and minds. A family that is of healthy weight, and doesnāt struggle with weight like I have my whole current life. I want to be beautiful in the eyes of society. Someone people are drawn to, someone people want to draw/paint. I know, so self-absorbed.
I hope that my family loves to travel all over the world. The sooner I start traveling the more I will be able to see.
I know that my spirit will still be the same and I will always be the adventurous person that I am. Itās just who my soul is.
As I grow up, I just want to have a fun and carefree childhood and teenage years. Being able to go out into the country side and have so many fun adventures with my siblings, and at times my parents. I hope my parents are very into family and spending time together. I know often fathers are away working (especially in well to do families), but I know there are also families like that with fathers that are very involved. Thatās what I want.
Now going into my young adult years. I do believe that I will still see life in the same passionate way I do now. An insatiable thirst for knowledge. The thirst for knowledge, I believe, is ingrained in oneās soul. So I know in my next life I will always ask questions and search for knowledge in every way I can, just like in my current life.
I hope in my next life I go to a very prominent college in Europe. To be honest, I want to be a journalist. I want to be a world journalist so that I can travel the world.
I donāt know if I want any children or not. Thatās yet to be seen. If so I think I would only want one, a girl. But later in life. In the beginning I just want to travel for as long and as far as I can. If I get married I want that to be later in life too. I want to focus on traveling and exploring on my own first.
I also hope that I am talented in many ways, but mostly I wanted to be talented in the arts (singing, acting, writing, photography, and all forms of creative art). Then as I am wandering the world I can journal by writing what I see and then drawing what i see as well. I hope that I publish tons of books with my drawings and adventures.
One thing about doing well for oneself, and being from a prominent family, is that you have ties to important people. I would love to be an activist in my next life. I know this world will need it more than ever. Advocate for good and love. Help save the world in greater ways than my current life allows. Maybe thatās where the world journalism will come in. I will be able to go and show people whatās really going on in the world in a way they havenāt yet seen, with my talent in writing and art.
I hope that in my next life I have a photographic memory, especially when it comes to languages. Iāve always wanted to be able to pick up other languages easily. I think being able to converse with others in all parts of the world is so important, especially in the line of work Iād like to do.
They say if you speak it into the universe you can manifest it. Well thatās what I am doing. If it doesnāt work, at least I tried.
I may not be Buddhist, but that is one thing I do agree with them on, reincarnation. I also like the thought that if you are a good person in your current life then your next life will be what you always hoped and dreamed it would be.
What about you? You ever dream of what you would like your next life to be like?
I would love for you to check out my recently published book, āBetween Then and Nowā, a collection of 60 poems written between the ages of 15 and 39, itās currently being sold at Amazon. Itās also available on kindle unlimited.
Stay tuned for my book āBetween Now and Hope.ā It will be released sometime in 2026. Itās a collection of poems that focus on making this world a better place.
Thank you for taking the time to read my words.

Blimey April you arenāt asking for much! šI should get your order in ASAP even if you live to be 100. Even God needs some time to sort THAT LOT out.
Good luck with THAT one April.
You definitely deserve it but itās a BIG ASK even for the Boss himself.
I myself just need a 100 years rest before I start all over again. I am absolutely knackered now at 73 so I donāt know how I WILL be feeling at 83? Great article though April I really enjoyed reading it, and it makes a great topic and it was well written. Thank you for sharing it with us all HERE on SS.
I truly enjoyed reading your post. It was just so refreshing to hear someone speak about exactly what they want so unapologetically. May you get the exact life you desire in your next life, and hopefully still have some of it in this lifetime. š
