What Does It Matter?
Who someone chooses to love is their choice. 🏳️🌈
Why do we spend our precious days, Judging others’ different ways? Why weigh a heart with fear and doubt, When love is what life’s all about? Some love women, some love men, Some find their truest selves, and then - Follow where their hearts belong, Though others say that path is wrong But who must live their life each day? Who walks their road along the way? Who bears the joys, the tears, the weather? Who lives with every choice forever? Not you. Not me. Not those who stare. Not those who whisper from somewhere The life they live is theirs alone - The seeds they plant, the dreams they’ve grown So what does it matter, tell me why, If love is found beneath their sky? Their happiness takes none from you, Nor dims the things you’re free to do A loving heart is not a crime, Nor something feared throughout all time The world already knows enough - Of loneliness and needless For every soul beneath the sun, Seeks someone when the day is done A hand to hold, a voice that’s kind, A place where they can truly shine The measure of a person’s worth Is not the one who shares their earth But how they treat their fellow man, And whether kindness guides their hand So live and let live, that’s all it takes, To spare the hurt that judgment makes For every heart must find its way, And live with those choices every day And when our fleeting days have passed, What truth will still remain at last? Not whom we loved, nor who lovedwho - But how much love we gave and knew So if their choice brings joy and light, And helps them sleep in peace at night, Then tell me, friend, and tell me true - Why should it matter to me or you?

I think what resonated with me is that beneath all the discussion about love, identity, and difference, this is really a poem about dignity. About allowing people the freedom to be human without constantly putting them on trial 🤍🙏❤️
So beautiful and so full of love for all 💜💙❤️💚💛
